As mentioned previously, Amerisleep is all about providing their customers with a choice. AS1, AS2, AS3, AS1, AS2, AS3, AS4, and AS5 are the five mattress models available. They range from rigid (AS1) to a delightfully soft (AS2) (As5). Amerisleep mattresses are also available in hybrid and all-foam variants.
Today, we’ll be focusing specifically on the all-foam models. Read on to learn more about the hybrid models, beginning on the AS3 Hybrid, which is the most well-known hybrid model.
While the firmness, comfort and support of Amerisleep mattresses are different however, the whole line is likely to be a better option for some customers.

Amerisleep Mattress Firmness and Feel
The topic of firmness has been mentioned at least a couple of times. It is the Amerisleep mattress has been distinguished with its broad choice of firmness choices. Let’s discuss the level of degree of firmness of each Amerisleep mattress as well as how they feel.
How Firm Are The Amerisleep Mattresses?
Every Amerisleep mattress is firm in its own unique way. The Amerisleep AS1 is more rigid than the average 8/10 mattress , which is the more firm side of the spectrum. The AS2 is the next softest model. It scores 7.5/10 however it is more difficult than the average. With an average of 6.5/10 The Amerisleep AS3 is right in the middle of the firmness range. It is the Amerisleep AS4 and AS5 are the two softer variants after that. The AS4 is more comfortable than average at 6/10. The AS5 is more comfortable than average at 5.5/10.
However, the mattress’s firmness will be determined by the height and weight you carry. On one hand, they could appear more firm when you press deeper into the mattress, and then reach the support layers if you are heavier. If you are heavier, however, you may find that these mattresses are significantly soft.
Sleeping On The Amerisleep Mattresses
I spent a significant amount of time on all five mattresses, testing the mattresses in different sleeping positions. As you can see, they performed differently!
As one of the firmest mattresses in the Amerisleep series The AS1 might be too hard for back sleepers. The support is great, but it’s comfort layer doesn’t seem enough for our hips to be able to sink completely into it. We were dissatisfied. When you lie on your back, you want your hips to sink in a good bit to ensure your spine remains in a neutral position as you sleep.
When we sleep on our sides and sleep on our backs, we experience the pressure on our shoulders and hips due to the AS1. We’ll take a closer look at the softer variants in a second and see how they alleviate the stress.
The Amerisleep AS1 is a shining model when we sleep on our stomachs. Sleepers who lie on their stomachs should have an appropriate mattress that offers the hips with support. When the hips are not adequately support, their spine could be forced out of its position. Amerisleep AS1 provides adequate support for the spine, thus this shouldn’t be an issue.SHOP AMERISLEEP
Because the AS2 is more supple than the AS1 and AS1, we can enjoy more comfort and support when we sleep in a back position. Our hips are properly bowed, and the top foam layers are pressing up into the lumbar region.
The AS2 isn’t firm enough for side sleeping and we can drive over the mattress and feel bunched in our hips and shoulders. After a few nights, we could see the cause of this discomfort and the pain.
We can feel some decent support under our hips while resting on our stomachs in the Amerisleep AS2. However, if you only sleep on your stomachs then the Amerisleep AS1 mattress is your best option to go.SHOP AMERISLEEP
A medium-firm mattress such as that of the Amerisleep AS3 is ideal for back sleepers. It’s no surprise it is that AS3 is among our top choices for back sleepers. The Bio-Pur foam layer on top offers a little contouring to our body contours, while also keeping us in the right position. It’s one of the greatest mattress for those who sleep on their backs among the Amerisleep types.
There is virtually no tension on my shoulders or hips when I lay on my side with AS3. AS3. The Bio-Pur foam actually cushions our joints, unlike our previous experience with AS1 as well as AS2.
In our bellies the Bio-Pur foam layer isn’t doing us any favors. In terms of compression reduction it’s incredible but we’re not receiving enough support for our hips.SHOP AMERISLEEP
We’re currently on the verge of a mattress that’s soft. Because the AS4 mattress is Amerisleep’s 2nd most flexible, we’re getting less support when sleeping on our backs. Lumbar support is lacking, and we’re sinking into the mattress slightly.
It’s true that the Amerisleep AS4 mattress performs best when placed on its side. The mattress is sinking due to the huge 4 inches of Bio-Pur foam, and our shoulders and hips are feeling almost no strain.
If you’re looking for a mattress that is suitable for stomach sleeping the mattress that is suitable for side sleep isn’t ideal. The Amerisleep AS5 is not an exception, and doesn’t offer the support we need.SHOP AMERISLEEP
There is a layer of Active Flex in the Amerisleep AS5, which is their softest and most luxurious model. This means that we feel more support for our necks and shoulders when we lie in our backs.
The AS5 is a great choice for people who prefer sleeping on their side due to its soft mattress. The weight of the world fades away as we snuggle to the soft comfort layers.
For stomach sleeping, the A5 does not provide enough support regardless of it’s Active Flex foam. If we are sleeping in a back position, we like the Amerisleep AS1 and AS2.SHOP AMERISLEEP
What Is the Feel of the Amerisleep Mattress?
The foam that is used in all Amerisleep mattresses has a similar texture and feels firm and soft at the same simultaneously. Even though we do sink quite slightly when we lay on these mattresses, we have no trouble moving around in any way. The Bio-Pur foam that is used in all five mattresses is different from one to the next, and we sink more into the soft mattresses more. Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs- 230 lbs
The Amerisleep AS3 offers the most convenience and comfort for average-weight back sleepers. However, the AS2 is a better choice for those who need extra support. If you are in between both the AS4 as well as AS5 the weight categories, you ought to opt for the AS4. The Amerisleep AS1 is the most firm mattress designed for stomach sleepers in this weight range!
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
The AS1 or AS2 from Amerisleep is suitable for heavier persons who prefer to lie on their backs and sleep on a mattress that is firmer. The AS3, AS4, and AS5 might not be able to withstand their heavier weight. They are the Amerisleep AS4 and AS5 should be suitable for people who are heavier and want to sleep on their sides. This Amerisleep AS5 is a better option for people who weigh over 300 pounds. If they intend to sleep with stomachs, the AS1 is the best choice however their size could render it unsuitable.
Lightweight Sleepers- Under 130 lbs
Back sleepers who are light in weight require an appropriate mattress that isn’t too rigid, since this can prevent the hips of their backs sinking completely to the floor. The best choice is to buy any of the Amerisleep AS3 models or the Amerisleep AS4 (if they want something more supple). AS3, AS3, AS4, and AS5 should provide the most pressure relief for side sleepers due to its lightweight, but the AS5’s additional features may not be necessary for them. They’ll get the support they require from either AS1 or AS2 while they sleep.
Amerisleep Mattress Construction
There are some commonalities between the Amerisleep mattresses, including the utilization of the same materials. Regarding the comfort layers, though, you’ll notice some notable differences.
There is a permeable covering on this Amerisleep AS1 mattress as it is on all Amerisleep mattresses. Bio-Pur Foam is a product that’s present at the top of all Amerisleep mattresses, makes up the top two inches of the mattress’s comfort layer. A plant-based foam that is more breathable and flexible than traditional memory foam is the name we’re using for this new material. It’s more environmentally friendly than many mattress foams because it’s open-celled. Bio-Core foam, which is eight inches in thickness, gives an additional layer of support to the mattress.
In terms of height in terms of height, in terms of height, the Amerisleep AS2 measures in at 12 inches, much like the other models. As with the AS1, this mattress contains 2 inches of bio-pur top of it. 3 inches of HIVE transition layer is also added below for extra support and comfort various positions of the mattress. Bio-Core foam is the material used in the 7-inch support layer.
There’s an 3″ thick layer of Bio-Pur foam on the top of the Amerisleep’s comfort layer, and the mattress is 12″ tall. In addition to the AS3, you get an inch more. The HIVE transition layer is 2” thick instead of 3” thick. Then, a 7-inch thick layer of Bio-Core foam completes that support layer.
In addition to being 12 inches tall and 12 inches tall, it is also 12 inches tall. Amerisleep AS4 offers the same air-tight cover! Do you notice an emerging pattern? When compared to Amerisleep AS3, the Bio-Pur foam top layer is much more thick (it is 4 inches in thickness!). The Bio-Pur foam top layer is just 1” thick. it is HIVE transition foam and 7 inches of Bio-Core foam comprise the bottom layer of the mattress.
The Amerisleep AS5 has an 8-inch thick cover and you’ll know the name. There’s a good chance it’s identical to the other mattresses available in stores. Bio-Pur foam is sandwiched between layers distinct AS5 foam. It is soft and springy. Active Flex is used in the construction of this 2-inch piece. All Amerisleep mattresses have a 7-inch base layer of Bio-Core foam.

Amerisleep Mattress Performance
Let’s see how the Amerisleep mattresses do! See how they did with regards to cooling, motion transfer and edge support by reading on.
Sleeping Hot Or Cold
Our experience has shown that Amerisleep mattresses do not generate excessive heat when sleeping. Bio-Pur foam was designed to keep the mattress cool, as we stated earlier. When you sleep in Amerisleep mattresses, it is important not to overheat like you do on other mattresses.
Latex and coil mattresses are great for keeping you cool at night if you are suffering from overheating. Hybrid mattresses are great for those who sleep hot because they are more breathable.
Although they’re more responsive than other mattresses, Amerisleep mattresses have a lower motion transfer coefficient. Due to Bio-Pur’s motion-isolation and motion isolation, if you are sleeping with a partner their movements shouldn’t cause disturbance to the mattress.
The thicker Bio-Pur foam layers in AS3 and AS3 and AS4 make them ideal for couples looking for the most comfortable mattress.
Edge support differs among Amerisleep mattresses. The mattresses that are more firm allowed us to feel more comfortable sitting or sleeping on their edges (the AS1 and AS2). We feel less support for the edges, especially while we are lying down, when we upgrade to the more soft models.
All of Amerisleep’s mattresses are made of high-density materials and are built to last. As a result, we estimate that the mattress will last 7 to 10 years, at the very least.
The Amerisleep mattresses have some early off-gassing. This is normal given that they are shipped in the form of a box. For an internet mattress, the scent of chemicals should disappear within 48 hours.
As we move around on Amerisleep mattresses, they don’t produce any noticeable noise. This means that you won’t be able to hear your partner move through the house at late at night.
Mattresses made by Amerisleep are more flexible, which could be ideal for sex, as per this review. But, if you’re using AS4 or the AS4 or AS5, you may sink further and have difficulties getting your partner to move around.
All Amerisleep mattresses are covered by a 100-night trial and a 20 year warranty.
Amerisleep Hybrid Mattress Review
Alongside Amerisleep’s renowned all-foam mattresses now makes hybrid options. Amerisleep’s AS3 Hybrid product is an hybrid of its all foam AS3 model and we’re here today to share our experiences with the AS3 Hybrid model.
Support layers are the key distinction between these two models. AS3 Hybrid has zoned pocketed coils, whilst AS3 all-foam has a foundation polyfoam core. Even so, just like the AS3’s all-foam counterpart it is also available in the AS3 Hybrid features Bio-Pur foam on top.
Its AS3 Hybrid’s coils give it extra support over the AS3 mattress’s all foam counterpart. As a result, it could be a better option for people who weigh more and want additional assistance. It is also a better option for those who require additional support. AS3 Hybrid mattress has a higher ventilation because of the coils. This makes it a cooler mattress in general. In terms of cost it is the AS3 Hybrid mattress is going cost around $200 more than the AS3 all-foam mattress.
The Amerisleep all-foam mattresses are the best option when you’re on a strict budget or in the lighter end on the scale. If you are heavier or require an item that’s more permeable and breathable, the Amerisleep Hybrid models are the most suitable choice.
